About me

I am a developmental editor with experience editing contemporary and dystopian YA, upmarket adult fiction, romance, erotica, mystery, suspense, and more.

I edit because of my impassioned desire for readers to have ample access to the best books and ideas that are out there. My approach is rooted in my work as a reader’s advisory librarian where I see which books readers choose–and which they pass over–every day. I take this knowledge of reader interests, preferences, and aversions and apply them in the editing process, connecting authors to the readers’ perspective in addition to traditional editorial assistance with structure, tone, pacing, and character development.

My fast facts:

  • Developmental editing since 2012
  • Member of the Editorial Freelancer’s Association
  • Audiobook review editor with over 300 published Booklist reviews
  • Author/editor of three professional development books for librarians.
  • Published by ALA Editions, School Library Journal, Young Adult Library Services, and Public Libraries.
  • Over 15 years as a public librarian specializing in YA and reader’s advisory; Illinois’ 2015 Young Adult Librarian of the year
  • Bachelor’s in English Literature and Creative Writing with departmental honors from Kalamazoo College
  • Masters in Library and Information Science from the University of Illinois

I live in a small suburb of Chicago with my family, and a rescue dog.
